As I mentioned in a previous post and mailing, I just moved to Teaneck NJ. I thought it would be a simple matter to move my Verizon DSL service from Brooklyn to Teaneck, but boy was I wrong! Here’s a summary:

I finally have internet service, thanks to Cablevision. Cable modem service costs significantly more than DSL and, while it’s a little faster, I’m getting nowhere near the “5 times faster than DSL” that they advertise. Still, they got the job done with a minimum amount of hassle and they seem reasonably organized and competent which is more than I can say for the Verizon broadband people in New Jersey.
Gotta go unpack some more dishes.
Edit (2/11/09): My speed is now around 6.6 mbps. When I first got here I clocked it at 4mbps. So this is pretty good. On a more empirical note I have definitely noticed downloads and uploads feel a lot faster than they used to with Verizon DSL. Worth every penny I pay for the upgrade.
